God gave his power to his church over demons, devils, angels and anyone who would raise up against God!
If God’s church has the power of God through Jesus Christ, then why do very few Christians recognize this power and are using it? Jesus gave us the scriptures and the examples to empower his church to overcome sin and the enemy to prepare us for the battle that is taking place over mans soul! So why so much weakness in the church?
I believe that God’s calling is for everyone who would seek the Lord with all their heart, mind and soul and give themselves as a living sacrifice to Christ. Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recover the sight of the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
Deliverance and healing are the heart of my ministry, so many lives are being destroyed by the works of the devil. Every day in San Francisco someone OD’s and some even die. These addictions have a hold on those trapped in Alcohol and drugs, and no matter how much they try to quit, they lack the faith and power of God’s Holy Spirit to free them. We are seeing powerful deliverances in the streets! Mark 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
I believe we are living in the end times and a great spiritual war is brewing between Satan and Christ over the dominion of man and this world! Ephesians 6:10-13 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of darkness in this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. God is warning and preparing us to be victorious and solders of the cross, not weak and mild Christians who barely read the bible, spend very little time in his word and very little time in his presence.
God is raising warriors who are strong in faith and the power of His Holy Spirit to tear down strongholds who know the authority and power they have in Christ our Lord. John14:12-14 Verily verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father. And whatsoever you ask in my name, that will I do; that the Father may be glorified in the son.
With all the scriptures that write about the church having the power and authority because of Christ who sits at the right hand of the father, you would think, more Christians would realize who they really are and would do the works of God. John14:12-14 Verily verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father. And whatsoever you ask in my name, that will I do; that the Father may be glorified in the son.
Here is the problem, very few Christians will spend the time seeking Jesus, knowing Jesus and even loving him, they are to busy with their jobs, their goals, their worldly desires and therefore never really give Him the time! They spend more time talking about Sunday, Monday and Thursday night football, than Jesus, they are consumed with their favorite TV programs. And they wonder why they lack faith! Hebrews 11:6 says, "And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him".
To be honest, I fell into this trap of not giving time to Jesus, saying in my heart, I am saved, I read the bible tons of times and went to a few churches over the years. Something changed for me, and I want to share it right now…watching the news and wars in the middle east I started realizing the end of days is close, and I started seeking God in fear of being left behind, so I discovered that when I praised and prayed deeply for hours on end I started growing stronger in my faith, the anointing grew stronger, I couldn’t read books and the Bible fast enough, and my desire to seek his will consumed me! I started growing and realizing I had his power and authority to speak healing and deliverance over people and not just pray. I found His Glory in His presence and bathed in it as much as my old body would allow it!
Now let’s examine what Jesus went through and why the resistance he got while he was here on earth, even in his own town, and yet people lacked the faith! Matthew 13:53-58 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence. And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Yet when he performed deliverances, in other areas people were astonished. Mark 1:21-28 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
Let me conclude by saying even Jesus as he read from the scriptures and performed great miracles was not honored, “And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,” This was so amazing, “And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? What new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him”
Jesus was the firstborn of many, and because he conquered sin and death and now seated at the right hand of the father, we as His church through him have the authority and power over all the enemy to build and strengthen his church and carry on in his will…Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
