God through holy men inspired them to write his book to mankind to commune with them. The Bible is inspired by God, its works consist of 66 books, written over 1600 years, 40 authors, with over 2500 prophecies making this book “one of a kind” – truly the inspired word of God!
2nd Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
Introduction:
I want to approach the scriptures more from a spiritual viewpoint as opposed to intellectual standpoint. Though the history and the discovery of these ancient documents including the Dead Sea Scrolls discovered in 1947, and archeological findings such as the city of David, is exciting and offer substantial arguments leading to and verifying the truth about God and his existence, however the intellectual approach leaves out one most important thing – Man’s communion with God, and God’s communion with man!
HIS HOLY SPIRIT
Without the Holy Spirit there is no revelation, or inspiration, or illumination! I personally do not agree with Conner’s dissertation about classifying scriptures whether they be for revelation without inspiration, and so forth. I believe all scripture is inspired by God, and through the Holy Spirit, illumination and revelation comes to us as stated clearly in 2nd Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteous”. God speaking to us through his Holy Spirit, inspiring us, giving us understanding, giving us guidance and strength, and most of all reveling his truth to us.
Consider this scripture in Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, “There are the words which I space unto you, while I was yet with you that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms concerning me”. Over 300 scriptures were fulfilled in the life and times of Christ.
In John 14:26 “But the advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you”.
In John 13:16 “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth, for he shall not speak of himself: but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will show you things to come.”
The Holy Spirit is God! He is the third person of the Godhead! He is a real person! He inspired the prophets of old to write these scriptures, he conceived Christ in the womb of Mary, He created the earth and all that is in it! The holy prophets of God knew him and were inspired by him. Christ foresaw the joy of the cross when he saw his kingdom to come!
He told the Pharisee’s, priests, and apostles, that he would send another the Holy Spirit of God, that he would destroy the temple and in 3 days he would raise it again! He gave us the Holy Spirit and those who became the children of God, became the temple of God.
The prophets and Moses were the witness of God in the Old Testament, but it was the eyewitness of the apostles and the thousands who witnessed his time on earth, death and resurrection in the New Testament, and now we are his witnesses! He gave us his…
HOLY SPIRIT!
My story is one of searching for God, wondering where is He, if he created us why did he not commune with us? It wasn’t until a pastor visited my home through the invitation of our children 50 years ago did I ever believe we could have communion with God. When he read this scripture to me, I was very bothered; “Jesus is the way, the truth, the life and no man can come to the father except through him,” Jn. 14:6. This hit my heart so hard, that evening when I went to bed, I screamed at God shaking my fist at heaven! “Where are you, who are you?” “If you created us, why did you leave us?
Several months went by and then out of nowhere one night I read this scripture in a magazine, “This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world and the end would come.” Matt. 24:14. The whole room lit up like a bright light, shame and fear grabbed me and would not let go, I ran to the toilet where I flushed down all the dope (marijuana) and cigarettes. The next morning my whole world felt different, like it was washed cleaned, little did I know it was me who was washed clean. It wasn’t until my wife bought a book that morning titled Jesus Stopped By, that I knew it was our Lord in our room!
Months later I was called by God to fight evil, with a loud voice out of heaven speaking with me, directing me to go to England where I would preach his gospel and win souls to Christ going from town center to parks from town to town. I never read the bible before and did not know his word or even know him, but I obeyed him out of fear and that fearful experience lit up my bedroom.
When I arrived in England I fasted and prayed but what was so amazing is when I started reading the bible for the first time, it was as if he was talking to me, teaching me, guiding me, and directing me. I had no man or church teach me these things, but the Holy Spirit who is and was my best friend! I would pray and feel his spirit, this beautiful presence would come upon me, and as I read, I would ask him, “What does this mean, when will this happen? Why is this so? I would hear this voice in my head, and at the time I thought it was me talking to myself, but then the more I prayed the more I spent in his presence the more my understanding grew, and the stronger I got and the more I wanted to spend time with him. I remember praying at times in the spirit of God into late hours of the night just to hear him speak to me. I would wait on him and wouldn’t leave until I heard from him, even if it was just one word. I was burning inside to know him, he was all I had in this strange country, I was totally committed to him, he became my best friend!
My Bible became my companion and door to the presence of God and the Holy Spirit. I would sing, “I will enter his gates with Thanksgiving in my heart, and I will enter his courts with praise, I will say this is the day that the Lord has made, and I will be glad and rejoice in it”. Psalm 100:4. This is what opened the door to his presence and fellowship with him. I had only the Holy Spirit who taught me this! I read how King David of old had communion with him, so I did what he did. I thanked him for everything and praised him for who he is and what he has done!
Today, every morning around 3:00 am to 5:00 am, I awake and start praying and communicating with him and I feel his divine presence as he reveals things to me about how I can grow closer to him, learn more from him and even about our church and things that are to come! He clearly is showing me how to live in his presence and every day how to crucify my flesh, bring every thought into obedience to him and then wait on him. The more I do this the more I am learning I can commune with him almost at will now. He never left me after all these years, and he is making up the time with his power, presence, and love, oh how I feel him. He is my Lord, my God, and forever will I serve him and seek his will, hear his voice and drink his holy words in my bible.
Isaiah 40:31 “But those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.” God wants to commune with us as much as we want to commune with him, He wants us to put him first in everything we do, to pick up the cross every day, not when it is only convenient, and follow him. Store up treasures in heaven, not on this earth. Humble ourselves before him, die with him that we may live for him and with him.
When he walked past the fig tree and told his disciples if the branches do not bear fruit, cut it down! (He is so serious about this, if the churches would ever know they would heed these words) Mark 11:12-25. Some scholars believe he was referring to Israel, but I do not, I believe he was teaching his disciples to bear fruit by sharing his gospel and to help them build faith, preparing them when he would no longer be with him. It is the Holy Spirit today preparing us for his divine presence and his return to this earth in these last days!
I strongly believe that God is preparing his church for the return of Jesus, that all the prophecies pointing to the rapture have been fulfilled. Unless the church is grounded in scripture and rooted in doctrine it will be impossible to stand against the evil and the world who is dividing itself from God. Jesus taught his disciples constantly preparing them for this generation from Matthew 24 to Luke 21. “Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many will come in my name, saying I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.”
Matthew 24:24 “For there shall arise false Christ, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
The time for his church to drink the scriptures, pick up his cross, and spend time in his presence is NOW. He is coming and coming soon!
Very few churches are teaching Eschatology, Revelations, Bible Prophecies, Spiritual Gifts, The Anointing of the Holy Spirit, and preparing the body for his coming and the hope we have in him and his new kingdom. He warns us in Revelations about the churches being asleep in this matter, except for only one! I thank God every day and night for our church and leaders, men and women filled with the Holy Ghost and power! We are blessed without measure, grounded in sound doctrine and scripture!
Praised be to God, he gave us a gift, his Holy Spirit (his true witness) so we may live our lives in his presence, hear his voice and drink his word with understanding, power, and revelation. God is calling his church to battle!
I want to share this last story – When coming home from England, I was filled with the Holy Spirit and as I tried to witness to my stepfather, he yelled at me to leave Jesus outside and not to bring him into his house. The power of God rose up in me like never before, took total control over my body and voice, and said loudly, “Come out of him you lying demon, he belongs to God!” My stepfather immediately broke down in tears and told me his mother use to force Jesus on him and that is why he resisted him. I prayed with him to receive Jesus! My stepfather and mother became deacons in an Assembly of God Church. I prayed with my mother as well. They were so cute together!
The Holy Spirit gave us the truth, the “Word of God”, and Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit!
When reading his word, just know he wants to commune with us as much as we want to commune with him! And as we open up our bibles, stop, and pray giving Thanksgiving to enter his GATE and with Praise to enter his COURT, and Wait for the Holy Spirit and when you feel his presence, then start reading and listen to his still quiet voice, he will teach you all truth! Your God, my God, our God is waiting!
Come Holy Spirit teach me your truth, your word!
